After nearly a century as an iron casting plant in Wisconsin, the C.A Lawton Co. General Machine and foundry shop faced demolition in the early 1990’s. Just three weeks before the wrecking ball was scheduled for duty, came a reprieve. The Alexander Co, a historical preservation and urban development firm, scooped up the brick structure in De Pere and set about preserving the foundry’s historical features, by converting the existing buildings into 70 unit one – and two-bedroom apartment homes. Ranging from 574 square feet to 1.820 square feet with 59 different floor plans. These homes feature large multi-paned windows, cathedral high ceilings, exposed brick and wood beamed ceilings. Located in the middle of downtown De Pere, our community is close to shopping, restaurants, parks and the Fox River trails system.
